How To Use LG Dishwasher Step-By-Step

How To Use LG Dishwasher Step-By-Step

Step1. Loading your Dishwasher

For the best washing performance, the dishwasher must be loaded according to instructions.

Before loading items into the dishwasher, you must scrape off large particles in particular non-soluble items such as bones, toothpicks, pips, etc.

When loading the dishwasher, observe the following general guidelines:

  • Position crockery such that water will contact all surfaces.
  • Deep-based items should be placed at an angle to help water runoff and dry properly.
  • Items with burnt scraps should be soaked before loading in the dishwasher.

Step2. Loading the Lower Rack

The lower basket is best loaded with dinner plates, soup bowls, dishes, pots, pans, lids, and even the grill tray.

Plates should be positioned upright and facing the center of the rack. Pots, pans and large dishes must be turned upside down.

Take care not to obstruct the rotation of the spray arms, and that larger items do not prevent the detergent dispenser lid from opening.

Step3. Using the Cutlery Basket

Cutlery should be mixed within each section of the cutlery basket to prevent the nesting of similar items. Place the cutlery in the cover with the handles down.

The cover can be hinged and clipped away from the basket if you choose not to use them.

Step4. Loading the Upper Rack

The upper rack is best loaded with more delicate items, small plates, long cutlery, cups, glasses, and dishwasher-safe plastic items.

Plates should be positioned upwards and facing the front of the rack. Cups, glasses, and bowls must be positioned upside down.

Extra cups or cooking utensils can be laid on the fold-down cup racks which may also provide support for long stem glasses.

Note: Take care not to obstruct the rotation of the spray arm under the upper rack.

Step5. Adjusting the Upper Rack

Your upper rack can be raised or lowered to cater to different sizes of crockery. Before adjusting,

  • Ensure rack is empty of all crockery.
  • Remove the rail pegs in front of the rack runners by pulling back, then slide the rack out.
  • Reinsert the rack in the chosen position and replace the pegs.
  • Fitting the rack back into the standard position reduces the space between the upper and lower rack.
  • After adjusting, check that the spray arm is free to rotate.

Step6. Adding Detergent Dispenser

Detergent must be put into the detergent chamber before starting every program except the Rinse & Hold.

Use only the detergent intended for household dishwashers. (Ordinary handwashing detergent should not be used, because the foam can interfere with proper operation.)

Chambers hold 15g and 25g.

How much is the amount of detergent to use in LG dishwasher?

The amount of detergent depends on the program:

PROGRAMAMOUNT OF DETERGENT
Soak25g
Heavy25g
Normal20g
Eco15g
Quick10g
Rinse/HoldNo detergent
  • After the detergent is supplied, the chamber lid should be closed.
  • The detergent is dispensed automatically during the operation.
  • The chamber lid remains open after operation.

Use only the detergent intended for household dishwashers. (Ordinary handwashing detergent should not be used, because the foam can interfere with proper operation.)

Step7. Adding Rinse Aid Dispenser

To fill the Rinse Aid chamber, rotate the round cap counterclockwise and remove it.

  • Fill the container to the maximum level with a good quality Rinse Aid, then replace and lock the cap.

The Rinse Aid is automatically dispensed during the final rinse cycle.

Depending on the dosage setting and the number of washes, the chamber may need only to be topped up once per month. The rinse aid level can be checked by looking at the indicator window when the dishwasher door is fully open.

(•) Black indicates sufficient Rinse Aid.

(O) Clear indicates Rinse Aid required.

The dosage setting is factory set to suit most installations. If, after washing, you notice cloudy spots, streaks, or watermarks on your glassware, it may be necessary to increase the setting.

To do so, remove the cap and rotate the indicator arrow to a higher setting then replace the cap.

If the glasses are smeared or there is foam present on the bottom of the glass or the bottom of the machine. Select a lower setting.

Note: Rinse Aid is necessary to get a spot and streak-free dishes as well as improved drying. Using the correct amount will improve wash performance. However, using too much can produce excess foam leading to possible water leaks.

Step8. Fold-down dividers.

Fold-down dividers at the back of the rack can be lowered to improve the stacking of pots and pans.

Is a rinse aid required to be used?

Rinse aid is strongly recommended to enhance the drying performance of the dishwasher.

To be more energy-efficient, the hybrid drying system does not utilize a heating element to assist in drying, so a rinse aid plays an integral role in the drying process.

If a rinse aid is not used, water may remain on the dishes and the tub. Rinse aid will help to ensure that the majority of the water has been sheeted off of the dishes at the end of the rinse and that the load is ready for the dry cycle.

What can be done if my dishes have a cloudy, white film on them after a wash?

The cloudy film is usually caused by minerals in the water reacting with the dishwasher detergent. First, be certain not to use too much detergent. Refer to the detergent amounts by cycle.

1. Add an Extra Rinse to the cycle, or run a Heavy cycle.

LG Dishwashers use less water than traditional dishwashers, so adding an Extra Rinse will aid in rinsing the film away.

If the water supply is hard, it may be necessary to add a performance booster that addresses the hard water condition.

What is the Sanitary Rinse and how is it activated?

The Sanitary Rinse will increase the heated rinse to approximately 161°F (72°C). The normal heated rinse temperature will vary from cycle to cycle.

What is the hybrid drying system?

The dishwasher does not rely on a heating element for the drying process; instead, it relies on the heat that is retained by the dishes and the tub during the wash and rinses cycles to turn the moisture in the tub into humidity.

Warm, moist air in the dishwasher is then pulled into a condensing duct in the door by a fan. The air then cools, which causes the humidity to condense.

Room temperature air is also drawn into the duct to help the air cool down faster. When this moisture condenses into a liquid, it is drained out.

What is Dual Control In LG dishwasher?

Dual Control is an option that can be utilized during wash cycles. This option enables you to fully customize the wash cycle intensity for the upper and lower racks, independently, in the same load.

For example, by selecting a soft spray for the upper rack and a strong spray for the lower rack, you can wash delicate stemware in the upper rack while washing pots and pans in the lower rack.

What kind of dishes can be placed in the LG dishwasher?

Ensure that the dishes you place in the dishwasher are dishwasher safe.

  • Plastic dishware will not dry as effectively as glass and metal dishware.
  • Plastic items do not retain heat as well as glass and metal dishware.
  • Plastic cups and dishes may require some hand drying before being put away at the end of the cycle.

Can I perform a drain-only cycle?

The dishwasher does not have a drain-only function; however, the dishwasher will drain on its own for the first 45 seconds of a new cycle. To drain standing water, select a wash cycle and let it run for only 45 seconds. Then, turn the unit off and let it reset. Repeat as necessary.
